To achieve the excellent neighbour status there will be changes during "Tech Check In" on the following events: • Motorcycle Road Race Days (EMRA) • Track Attack Motorcycle Track Days Tech check will now include a sound test. All vehicles will be tested using the Standard SAE J1287 test. 99.9 db at 20 inches is the maximum sound allowed. Most Super Motards bikes will meet this requirement with a well packed stock silencer. Many vintage bikes, bikes with blown-out silencers and some two strokes will not pass the sound test and will not be allowed to be ridden at Stratotech. If your bike does not pass the sound test, there is no charge. Do not alter the exhaust after the sound test. Just one loud vehicle could doom Stratotech Park from remaining in operation. If your vehicle is making excessive noise on the track, you will be asked to repeat the sound test. If your vehicle fails the re-test, you will be prohibited from the track and will not receive a refund. |

WHAT IS SUPERMOTARD OR SUPER MOTO? Supermotard is an exciting form of motorcycle racing that combines the high speed of road racing with the action packed drama of dirt track racing. This type of motorcycle competition started back in the late 1970's and early 80’s; you may remember the wide world of sports super biker competition, which provided some epic showdowns between roadracers, dirt trackers and motocross racers. Supermotard presents an affordable means for a broad range of riders to experience the thrill of fast paced motorcycle competition. Supermotard is a great and inexpensive way to get a taste for road racing without spending a lot of dollars. It is also a great way to refine your riding skills, because in a supermotard race you will experience all types of motorcycle control challenges. Wheelies, stoppies, sliding both tires on pavement, sometimes on dirt, and some tracks throw in jumps. And that's also what makes it so much fun. All you need to get started is a dirt bike or dual sport bike, that's it! You can even use the tires that are on the bike, yes even the off road tires! But I would recommend street tires so you can fully enjoy the feel and the corner speed of the road bikes. There are a few minor safety requirements, like safety wiring, coolant change, riding gear and a mechanically sound motorcycle. The SM-X class is for motorcycles running stock 21'' front wheel and full suspension. The premier supermotard bikes are modified for better performance with 17" wheels, so they can use dirt track, road race, and road tires. They may have lowered suspension, larger brakes and big motor modifications. Best set-up is a matter of opinion. That's what makes it interesting. |
